Alamo, California – January 22, 2018 – CARESTAR Foundation is now evaluating proposals for grant distributions to organizations aligned with its mission of addressing the causes and care of traumatic and emergency medical situations in California.
By helping start and expand sustainable programs for healthcare and prevention, CARESTAR seeks to enhance the technology of trauma and emergency treatment, strengthen the infrastructure and coordination of care between ground/air providers, and implement community-based programs that help prevent accidents and violence, as well as provide for the emergency needs of California’s population, particularly the disadvantaged and underinsured.
CARESTAR has now published its guidelines for evaluating programs under consideration for grants. These initiatives ideally will be multi-year efforts, or possess promising multi-year potential. The objectives and practical aspects that will be taken into account include:
- Employing innovative ideas or strategies, or enhancing proven current strategies, to achieve documentable results and continuing value after completion of CARESTAR funding.
- Demonstrating measurable results in improving emergency and trauma patient care, or reducing injuries, disabilities and deaths through violence prevention and education.
- Situating all supported programs within the state of California.
- Operating for at least 12 full months as a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.
- Exhibiting experienced executive and program leadership, and a full complement of highly engaged board members.
- Maintaining financial stability with appropriate internal financial systems and accounting staff.
- Establishing systems and dedicating personnel to develop revenue from an array of sources.
- Presentation of a proposal that includes:
- Program plan
- Identification of suitable partners
- Development of success metrics
- Process for evaluation and program outcomes
